How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off

Yo yo diets.Among a lot of people it is a very common theme.  “I just need to lose this holiday weight”, sound familiar?Althoug you may not realize it, yo-yo dieting is actually more detrimental to your health than just staying at one weight, even if you are overweight.  This is why I'm going to share with you several ways to help you lose weight and keep it off.

Drink Plenty Of Water - Thirst can often be disguised as hunger.
Drinking plenty of water will help keep you feeling full so you don’t eat so much.Add a lemon, this will help keep you system moving.

Eat A Nutritious Breakfast - This will start your day off right and set a positive tone for the rest of it.  High quality nutrition shakes or an omelet with veggies are great choices. They will give you sustained energy throughout your day and they both taste great. Be sure to have some protein. This helps to avoid the energy crash that comes from spiking blood sugar levels by eating only carbohydrates like oats, breads or fruit.  While there are many choices of shakes, Shakeology is one the best available and has numerous healthy ingredients proven to be beneficial for losing weight.
Have Healthy Snacks Within Reach At All Times - You always want to keep a convenient and nutritious snack on hand.  Raw nuts & seeds, trail mix, organic or natural bars & shakes are all good choices.  Anything to keep you from pulling into the “lane to weight gain” known as the drive-thru.  If you’re always on the go and short on time, nutrition shakes are again a healthy and convenient alternative.

Eat The Good Stuff First – Chowing down on the healthy foods first will keep you from overeating all of the other stuff.  This could be the difference between one serving of desert or three.

Be Gentle With Yourself – Don’t beat yourself up for enjoying the occasional treats.  If you’ve been good to yourself you deserve a reward.Remember, your next meal can be a good one.  One of the best ways to do this is by eating extremely well six days per week and allowing yourself one "cheat day" where you eat whatever you want but still control your portions and be careful not to overeat.   Eat Plenty Of Protein & Veggies The Day Following A Sweet Binge – In the event that you do binge, this is the best recovery method.  This will help to balance out your blood sugar and energy levels.

Take A Walk - Walking before a meal or after a long day of sitting at a desk will work wonders. This is beneficial in helping with relaxation.Chat away with a friend while your walking.  Twenty to thirty minutes is enough and it will go by very quickly when you’re walking and talking with someone.

Take A Few Deep Breaths Right Before Your Meal – This allows you to relax which helps you to digest properly and enjoy the experience.

Chew! – Don’t be a human vacuum.  The food is not going anywhere and there is always plenty left over. You'll be surprised how this works, but, make it a point to chew each bite 30-50 times, it's easier than it sounds. This allows the enzymes in our saliva the opportunity to properly be absorberd by our food which is essential for proper digestion.  Which in turn will help you feel full faster.

Get Extra Rest When You Can – The holidays can be a very busy and stressful time if we let them.  Make it a point to do something each day to relax.  Baths, deep breathing, yoga, listening to soothing music, sitting by the fireplace and meditation are all good choices.

Give – Whether you donate time, money, food or clothes, do something to help those that are less fortunate. There's a feeling that cannot be put into words that comes from helping others in need.  Being healthy is so much more than just what we eat or drink.  It’s about nourishing the body, mind and soul in many different ways that make you feel your best.
