6 Issues With Being Too Skinny

The media portrays images of people that are extremely skinny. But what the media doesn’t reveal is that many of these images have been digitally altered.

Even worse, many people may actually believe that this is the path to health.

Thus, here are 6 issues with being too skinny:

1. It’s not just about the fat under your skin, it’s about the fat inside your body: You see, fat doesn’t just accumulate under your skin, it also accumulates in your arteries and around your organs. And fat in these areas is much more dangerous.

2. Muscle loss: As you age your body will naturally start to lose muscle mass. This is a result of aging, but it isn’t unavoidable. You see, by lifting weights you can prevent this from happening. So make sure you don’t fall for the non-muscle skinny look.

3. Low density bones: This can be extremely crippling because even the faintest of falls can break or fracture you bones. The good news is that resistance training can make your skeletal system much more dense. This in turn will prevent any unnecessary fractures.

4. Metabolic slow down: Your metabolism will naturally slow down as you age. This is just the way the human body works. However, you can reverse this trend by exercising on a regular basis, especially if you lift weights.

5. Hormone optimization: Having more lean muscle tissue will increase the output of many regenerative hormones in your body. Said hormones will help you burn fat, build muscle, have better blood flow, have glowing skin, etc.

6. Joint preservation: A joint with little muscle surrounding it is a joint that is more likely to get injured. The more muscle you have around a joint the less likely it is for the joint to break under pressure. Thus, being skinny is not necessarily a good thing for your joints.

There is nothing wrong with being skinny as long as you use exercise to achieve the look. Just make sure you don’t use diet alone!
